Norrviken is famous for its gardens in different styles, created by Rudolf Abelin early in the 20th century. A visionary inspired by various countries and epochs, giving each garden its own, special character later on. The gardens will provide you with experiences for all senses.

Villa Abelin
In Villa Abelin the Orangeriet restaurang is located with its unique cuisine, celebrating local and place-related produce. Admire the original paintings in the Green Room with its 20th- century features. In the Villa there are two unique suites with a beautiful view of the garden, and premises adapted for small as well as big conferences.
Victoriahuset
Impressive Victoriahuset was designed for special occasions. A perfect setting for the glamorous party, the unforgettable wedding or the anniversary. It comes with all the requirements for thinking differently and creating something new. That is the idea behind Victoriahuset – letting magnificent ideas grow into real plans.
Erikshus
A glasshouse where knowledge, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit are growing together with the plants. Light, space and high ceilings characterize the experience and the content. With new approach exhibitions, unusual courses, creative projects and attractive events this is the building of knowledge, growing power and possibilities. A place for well-being and inspiration.
Kitchen garden
The purpose of the kitchen garden is to inspire, to stimulate a desire to learn and be a feast for the eyes and mouth. Here we grow vegetables and herbs that we can use in our restaurant. We would like to give you ideas and suggestions for your own cultivation as well. Naturally the crops change with the season, so variations of the cultivation beds occur.
Hasse’s Happy Garden
As early as 100 years ago Rudolf Abelin pointed out that having a special place for children in the garden was important. Therefore it is really nice that Hasse Andersson, a versatile Swedish artist, has created a colourful garden filled with childlike fun for kids here at Norrviken. It is designed to encourage children to play, stimulate their curiosity and discover the wonders of growing plants. A garden full of music and nice surprises!
The small garden
Our tribute garden The small garden was made by garden profile Heidi Palmgren in the spirit of Ulla Molin, a famous Swedish landscape gardener. Ulla Molin was a pioneer within the modern, functionalist-style private garden – well-known today, innovative in the 1960s. She recommended a garden with many separate rooms, just like rooms in a house. The vegetation had to have a distinct structure of greenery, clearly defined and cut back, contrasting with untouched, bushy parts. A lot of inspiration to bring home to your own garden can be found in The small garden.
The beehives
Just behind Villa Abelin our beehives are located. Here thousands of honeybees live in beautifully crafted beehives gathered round a gazebo. The beehives are kept by a beekeepers’ association, Biföreningen Lilla Båstad. With the assistance of the busy bees, Norrviken’s own honey is produced here and can be bought at Norrviken’s shop.
The Cherry Garden
In this place about twenty ornamental cherry trees were planted in the 1980s. These trees proudly provide us with exquisite flowers, shade and shelter from the wind. The peacocks of the park live here too. It is Norrviken’s designated picnic area where you may bring your own food.
Tor´s Park
In the 1970s Tor G. Nitzelius (1914-1999), a distinguished dendrologist and plant introducer, had an area of Norrviken at his disposal for a kind-of large-field experiment. Over the years Tor´s Park was sometimes overshadowed by other projects. But in 2021 the work to develop the hidden treasure of the park started. In Tor´s Park we highlight unique trees and shrubs and exceptional plants from different parts of the world.
Walks
Explore the area and get acquainted with Norrviken’s tiniest friends. Along the forest path you will find out which birds thrive there, in what way bats and hedgehogs are useful and how to build your own insect hotel.

The tour named Experience Norrviken begins with the history of the founder of Norrviken, its development followed by the work process behind this year’s theme and exhibitions.
