A Symbiosis of Light and Creation

Photosynthesis – from the Greek PHōS (light) and SÝNTHESIS (to combine) – is a tribute to what arises from the meeting of two artistic expressions. When photographer Hannah Lemholt and illustrator Sara N Bergman allow their techniques to interact, something new emerges—a visual narrative where light, shadows, colors, and forms blend together.

Hannah Lemholt's photographs are defined by a softness and presence, where light takes center stage. Her images have a dreamlike, almost ethereal quality, where reality and fantasy merge. Sara N Bergman, on the other hand, works with the physical structure of illustration—lines and details that emerge through layers of color and form. When their works meet, a dialogue is created between precision and fleetingness, between the exact and the intuitive.

In Photosynthesis, these worlds intertwine into visual poetry. The moments captured in photography meet the interpretive hand of illustration, creating new dimensions where light and shadows dance across the surface. What happens when an image is no longer merely a photograph or an illustration, but something more—a synthesis of artistic expressions born in the meeting of different mediums?

The exhibition is a reflection on the interplay between art forms, inviting the viewer to look beyond the obvious and be engulfed by the shifts between light and darkness, detail and abstraction, the captured and the created.
